The six most common questions
These are the questions we're asked most often on the phone and at the counter. If your question isn't answered, call us or write to us using the contact form.
- How does the trial session work? The trial session takes place by appointment, so a trainer can be there for you the whole time. First, we talk for about 20 minutes about your daily routine, any pre-existing conditions and your goal. After that, we go through the equipment area together, adjust seat height, lever lengths and weights on the first machines to suit you, and you train a round under guidance. Finally, we clarify any open questions. Plan for about 90 minutes in total.
- I haven't trained in years. Is that a problem? No, returning trainees are the norm for us. We start with a few basic exercises on guided machines, where the machine defines the movement path – this is easier to learn than free weight training. In the first few weeks, the weights deliberately stay low, because tendons and ligaments need more time to adapt than muscles. After about six to eight weeks, we adjust the plan together.
- When is the studio quietest? We're open Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. It's busiest between 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on weekdays. If you want to train undisturbed, come early in the morning, around midday, or after 9:00 pm – that's when the machines and changing rooms are nearly empty.
- How often should I come per week? To start, two sessions a week with at least one rest day in between are enough; this is manageable for working people, and your body gets time to recover. If you want to progress faster, train three times a week. A machine-based workout with us takes about 45 to 60 minutes, and most classes last 45 minutes. We don't recommend more than four sessions a week for beginners.
- Do I need to sign up for classes? Yes, classes have limited spots and are reserved in advance – at the front desk or by phone. The current class schedule is posted in the studio and available on the Class schedule page. If you can't make it on short notice, please cancel so the spot can go to someone on the waiting list. As a beginner, it's best to start with a class at a low intensity level.
- What determines the cost of membership? The fee depends on the contract term and whether you'd like additional personal coaching at regular intervals. There's also a one-time fee for creating your training plan. We provide specific figures during an in-person consultation, since we first want to understand what you actually need. A consultation doesn't commit you to anything.
