Trial training by appointment
Take a look around, have a relaxed chat, and try a first session with guidance – at Puls Fitness in Dortmund, at a time that fits your day.
On-site process
Three parts, one appointment
We'll first show you the studio and talk about your goals and previous training experience. Then follows a first session, during which we accompany you.
Tour of the studio
You'll see the training area, the class room, the changing rooms and the showers. We'll show you where each equipment group is located and what operations look like at your preferred time.
Conversation about your goals
We ask about prior experience, any complaints we should take into account, and how many days per week are realistic. This gives us a starting point for you.
First supervised session
You'll train on a few machines, we adjust seat position, height and weight, and correct your technique. We note down the values so you don't have to figure them out again next time.
Step by step
The process of your appointment
A trial training session at Puls Fitness takes around 90 minutes and always follows the same order: first we talk, then we look, then you train. You'll be accompanied by a trainer the whole time and won't be left alone at any machine.
Plan your appointment so you don't have to rush off afterwards – the closing conversation is part of the appointment.

Around 20 minutes in the consultation area. We ask about your training level, pre-existing conditions, operations, medications, and any issues that come up in everyday life – such as knee pain when climbing stairs or a pulling sensation in the lower back when sitting. We also clarify how many days per week you can realistically plan for. Here, "anamnesis" simply means: your background, before we adjust anything.

About 15 minutes. We look at your squat, trunk posture and shoulder mobility and note where things are restricted. From this we determine which exercises make sense and which we leave out for now. Anyone who hasn't trained in a while usually has a stiff thoracic spine and weak core tension – that's the normal case, not an obstacle.

Around 10 minutes. Seat height, backrest position, lever arms and range-of-motion limiters are adjusted to your body measurements and recorded. This way your settings are fixed, and on your next visit you'll find the same setup again without having to try it out from scratch.

About 35 minutes at six to eight stations, with deliberately low weight. The focus is on movement execution, not the load: a steady pace, full range of motion, even breathing. We correct directly at the machine rather than discussing it afterwards.

The final 10 minutes. You'll learn which type of training suits your goal – machine training, classes or a combination – and what weekly rhythm would be needed for it. You won't make a decision on this day; you can leave at your own pace and get in touch later.
Preparation
What you should bring
- Sports shoes with clean soles, worn indoors only
- Comfortable training clothes you can bend in
- Two towels: one for the machines, one for the shower
- A water bottle; you can refill water at our facility
- If available: medical findings or rehab documents
- A list of the medications you take regularly
Eat a light meal about two hours before your appointment – arriving completely on an empty stomach is impractical for the exercise portion. Arrive ten minutes early so there's time to change and be welcomed, without having to shorten the conversation.
Who comes to us
Common starting points
Most trial training sign-ups come from people who either haven't trained in a long time or whose week leaves little breathing room. We're familiar with both. Here's how we approach these cases – so you know what to expect in advance.
